Short Term Rentals such as AirBnB and VRBO represent an economic benefit to our residents, and a regulatory challenge to towns. Communities across the US are learning how best to protect the health and safety of guests and hosts, address impacts on neighborhoods, and provide a level economic playing field for those who offer accommodations. This workshop will address:
- Current state of zoning bylaws, building code, and sanitary code relating to short term rentals.
- Best practices for licensure and inspection
- Town regulatory options to address short term rentals
- Next steps for hosts that would like to come into compliance
Presenters: Glen Ayers, FRCOG Regional Health Agent; Jim Cerone, FRCOG Building Inspector; Jim Hawkins, FRCOG Building Commissioner; and Peggy Sloan, FRCOG Director of Planning & Development
