MRC 101 Training

February 27, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Medical Reserve Corps logo

Come be a part of the response! The Franklin County Citizens Corps will hold three trainings for medical and non-medical personnel who want to volunteer in times of disaster.

Medical Reserve Corps volunteers assist in medical emergencies such as disasters, catastrophic incidents, mass vaccinations and prophylaxis for potential epidemics. Roles are assigned depending on the license and qualifications of the volunteer. But even those without licenses can help in numerous ways. There are a set of required trainings and then an expectation that the volunteer will keep up with necessary trainings as time goes by. The MRC holds occasional drills, an annual meeting, and short monthly meetings which are generally optional, but each volunteer must attend at least one a year.

• Complete the MRC Training course and course evaluation.
• Complete a Application packet including policy and procedure agreements
• Credentialed and pass a CORI/SORI check
• Complete a Personal and Family Preparedness Plan
• Complete ICS/100 and NIMS/700 within one year of joining the MRC
• Complete CPR/First Aid training (if not already certified) within one year of joining the MRC
• Attend one MRC unit activity per year – training, meeting, or drill.

The MRC Training itself involves the following:
• Health, Safety and Personal Preparedness
• Vulnerable and Special Needs Populations
• Psychological First Aid
• NIMS and Incident Command Overview
• Points of Distribution (POD)
• Roles and Responsibilities of the MRC Volunteer
