An icon of Franklin County and Massachusetts, Congressman John W. Olver, died on February 23rd.
Congressman Olver was a staunch advocate for Franklin County, and his efforts brought millions of federal investment dollars to our region: the CDC’s Food Processing Center, Route 2 safety improvements, telecommunications fiber in the I-91 corridor that led to Franklin County’s eventual broadband solution, rail track improvements that supported the return of passenger rail to our region, and, of course, our home, the John W. Olver Transit Center. The FRCOG is proud to honor his legacy every day.
In 2016, the FRCOG worked with his federal and state colleagues to build an appreciation video that highlights his many contributions to the vitality of our region. The video stands today as a testimony to his work on our behalf, and the spirit, principles, and determination he brought to his work as a legislator. He will be deeply missed.
