The Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours/week) Senior Economic Development Planner to work on a variety of economic development planning projects. The FRCOG is an interdisciplinary and innovative regional planning agency that serves the twenty-six communities in Franklin County including historic mill towns, rural communities, and growing cities/small towns. The FRCOG is recognized as a creative and collaborative agency and a leader for its work on rural issues, including brownfields and infrastructure development.

The person holding this position will have the opportunity to work on a variety of regional and municipal planning projects related to revitalizing downtowns, developing infrastructure, redeveloping brownfield sites, fostering business growth, enhancing industry sectors, and encouraging the creation of a more resilient and sustainable regional economy as inspired by the county’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This position is primarily funded by a U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant to implement recommendations from the Franklin County Economic Resiliency and Recovery Plan and Framework (PDF, 738 kb).

Candidate should possess a Master’s Degree in planning or a related field with at least two years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in planning or a related field with five years of related work experience. The candidate will perform research and analysis, write plans and reports, and present information to the general public, municipal officials and other stakeholders. Above all, the successful candidate will be self-motivated, curious, and able to multitask.

A hybrid, 3-day in-office schedule is currently available. Hiring range of $70,000 – $80,000 per year depending on experience, with excellent benefits.
