The purpose of economic development planning is to advance policies, programs, and projects to encourage economic opportunity for all. For our small towns and rural region, economic development creates a supportive environment for residents and businesses to prosper, which then fuels the overall economy and contributes to a municipality’s ability to generate revenue. Planning activities include addressing infrastructure needs, advancing downtown revitalization, and supporting business and workforce development programs, in partnership with regional organizations, local governments and state and federal agencies.
