On October 28, 2022, MassDOT and Amtrak announced that the Valley Flyer Passenger Service will be permanent. The Valley Flyer offers residents of Western MA and visitors a way to connect to Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor and particularly New York City by connecting to New Haven Union Station. It provides service along the Connecticut Valley rail line with stops in Greenfield, Northampton, and Holyoke. The Valley Flyer has two round-trip trains on weekdays, and one round-trip train on Saturdays and Sundays. The service was started as a pilot on August 30, 2019.
